Registration

The race organisers welcome athletes of all abilities and backgrounds to take part in the Beacons Ultra. All we ask is that you are adventurous and determined. If you are concerned about a particular disability please contact us and we’ll help you all we can with your preparations.

Entry fee for the Beacon Ultra without accomodation is £40.

Please note that 'Likeys accomodation' arrangements are now full. However, a popular alternative for those that have yet to book may be the Dan y Wenallt YHA: you need to book this independently if it is of interest; some competitors have already chosen this approach.

Optional Bunkhouse accommodation cost is £40 inclusive of both Friday and Saturday nights. (* Please note that you must pay for two nights even if you only wish to stay one)

Desert Ultra Seminar to be held on Sunday is FREE and will be at 10am.

Payment

Payment can be made by a deposit cheque of £40 or £80 (depending on accommodation) sterling, made payable to Likeys Ltd and sent to the above address.

Or payment can be made online, using this Online payment link.*Please note that this method does automatically add £3.50 postage to your 'order'. This will be refunded to you in cash during registration.

Receipt of your completed application and entry fee will secure your place on the Beacons Ultra.

Terms and Conditions

The entry fee of £40 per person must be paid either by credit/debit card or by cheque payable to Likeys Ltd and must accompany the application. Your participation is not confirmed until the entry fee is paid and a confirmation of booking has been issued by us.

Cancellation by you

Should you have to cancel for unavoidable reasons, the following restrictions will apply:

• Your entry fee of £40 is non-refundable.

Changes By Us

In the interests of safety, and dependent on local conditions it may sometimes be necessary for us to make alterations to the event as detailed on the race website, marketing material and/or competitors briefing pack, before or after your booking has been confirmed. We reserve the right to do so at our absolute discretion. If it is necessary for us to make a significant change to the event we will inform you as soon as possible.

Medical and Safety Information

Obviously your safety is of paramount importance during the event. While all steps will be taken to ensure this, it must be stress that ultimately you are responsible for your own well-being and safety during the event. Medical cover will be provided with a team of experienced medics present at all times. Throughout the event support vehicles will be available should you wish to withdraw.

Cancellation by us

In the extremely unlikely event the race has to be cancelled for circumstances outside of the organisers control, a full refund will be given.

Hazardous activities

Participation in any outdoor activity can be potentially hazardous. Participants must make their own judgments on their own abilities and participate entirely at their own risk.

Insurance

Due to the adventurous nature of this event, the organisers cannot guarantee your safety. All possible precautions to minimise the dangers will be taken, but the event remains one that you undertake at your own risk. Prior to starting the event, you will be required to complete and sign a disclaimer form which acknowledges your own responsibilities in entering for the race. Whilst event insurance is in place, provision for personal insurance cover should be made by you.

Rules

1. Upon registration, all competitors agree to abide by the rules and regulations, terms and conditions as set out by the organisers. Terms and conditions may be subject to change at short notice.

2. In any dispute, the Race Directors decision will be final and binding on all parties.

3. The organisers reserves the right to alter or modify any aspect of the Beacons Ultra at short notice in response to unforeseen circumstances in order to ensure the safety and security of all participants. Therefore, the organisers and representatives strongly encourage each participant to purchase trip cancellation insurance.

Age

All competitors must be 18 years of age or older.

Entries

Open to men and women, individuals and teams.

Team Entries

1. All teams must have three members in total.

2. To qualify for a team ranking all team members must complete the race.

3. Individual team members will also receive individual overall rankings.

4. Team times will be calculated as the total time taken by all members of the team to complete the race.

Alterations To The Race Itinerary

The organisers reserve the right to alter or modify any aspect of the Beacons Ultra at short notice in response to unforeseen circumstances in order to ensure the safety and security of all participants.

Checkpoints

1. These will be at points A & B as seen on the map. (exact location to be confirmed)

2. Competitors must pass through and check-in at all the checkpoints.

3. Water will be available at points (exact location to be confirmed)

4. Failure to pass through a checkpoint will result in elimination from the race.

Race Number

Each competitor will be issued with a unique identifying race number. This must be displayed clearly at all times during the race.

Mandatory Equipment

Competitors will be required to carry a number of essential items of equipment necessary to ensure their safety. Failure to carry any of these items will incur a time penalty and/or disqualification from the race.

Water Supply

Water will be available at certain checkpoints along the route; details to follow.

It is the individual participant’s responsibility to manage his or her water intake and prevent dehydration.

Outside Assistance

1. The only assistance permitted is from race officials.

2. No use of any form of transport or outside provisions is allowed during the race.

3. Any infringements of this rule will result in disqualification.

Food

Athletes will be required to carry sufficient food daily for their personal use and for emergency purposes.

Withdrawal

Competitors wishing to withdraw from the race may do so at any time by informing a race official of their wish to do so.

Penalties

Severe breaches, which can be construed as wilful cheating may result in disqualification.

Disqualification

Disqualification will result in the competitor eliminated from the race with no ranking and no refund.

Race Results

Competitors will be ranked with times indicated in hours, minutes and seconds. Prizes will be distributed according to position.

Miscellaneous

In the absence of a rule for some obscure reason, common sense will prevail and the organiser’s decision on such occasions will be final.

Health And Safety

The safety of all competitors is of paramount importance to the race organisers. While it remains the concern of race officials, the responsibility for personal safety ultimately rests with the individual participant. Please make sure that all essential kit is carried at all times.
